Beneficiary

Camp Kesem is a national nonprofit providing free overnight summer camps for children ages 6 -16 with a parent who has or has had cancer.  Camp Kesem provides a safe and supportive atmosphere, where children befriend peers who can uniquely relate to their situation, and gain the strategies and confidence needed to cope with their parent's illness or death. 

Camp Kesem's mission also serves the thousands of college student volunteers who create every aspect of their Camp Kesem chapter while gaining valuable real world leadership skills and developing their passion for making a difference in the world.

Camp Kesem is a 501(c)3 organization with over ten years of growth and success.  There are currently 37 camps in 22 states - including programs at the University of Texas and Texas A&M.

Donation Incentives

Donations are no long mandatory for any division. Racers still have the opportunity to earn Course Clues, gift cards and more by raising money to donate to Camp Kesem. Incentive levels are located in the Official Race Packet .

$30 - Early Passport Release
*Teams get the chance to have a mystery leg of the course revealed the night before race day. No brainer!

$100 - Course Clue
*Teams will receive a clue the night before race day that will give them an extra edge while out on the course. (ex., answer to a difficult puzzle, address to a mystery location, etc.)

$300 - Beer Wristband at the After Party
*Teams will get a special bracelet at the after party that will allow them unlimited cold beers.

$500 - Charity Bomb
*As a Thank You for raising the highest level of funds for a good cause, teams have the opportunity to drop a charity bomb on the competition & "explode" to the front of a line anywhere on the course! (You can only detonate a bomb once).

Saturday, May 19th
Team Check-In @ Noon - 3:00pm

Sunday, May 20th
Race Day!
Transition Area: GSD&M Parking Lot - 828 W. 6th Street,  Austin TX 78703
(look for the white tents - that's us!). Oyster Racers will be able to park in the GSD&M garage at no cost day of the race just west of the TA on Henderson St.  

6:30am - Transition Area opens! If your team didn't check-in prior to race day, please arrive at 6:30am to do so. Otherwise, come early to claim your team stall for the day.

8:00am - Oyster_The Race begins! (Full Course only - Traditional & Relay Divisions)

10:00am - The Half Oyster begins!

2:30pm(ish) - Enjoy post-race Chipotle burritos, one free beer (of course you can buy more), and the awards ceremony post-race. Awards for the top three teams in each division will begin when a minimum of 75% of teams have completed the course. Take the time to relax, stretch and share a beer and your stories with other racers!
